Program

8:00 am – 3:00 pm – Regular Programming Hours

8:00 am – 8:30 am:  Drop off

Children and families are greeted as they arrive. Children say goodbye and independently take off shoes, put up their bags and personal items. Once settled, children wash their hands and look at books on the rug until most children have arrived. 

8:45 am: Morning Mantras 

We start off our morning with a group gathering; singing and greeting each child, reviewing the FireFly agreements, and giving any group reminders or lessons.

9:00 am – 11:00 am: Morning Work Cycle

Students choose work in the classroom. They may choose to work with a friend and with materials they have been shown before or take out new work and request a lesson from a trained teacher. 

Note: To Dr. Maria Montessori, “work” signified activity done with purpose and passion. Work time can include practicing and receiving lessons with the academic materials, writing or drawing an important message, painting on the easel, watering the indoor plants or reading a book…ideally it’s done with concentration and joy. It also looks different each day and work time!

11:00 am -12:00 pm: Outdoor time

Outside time in the backyard may include a variety of child-led and structured activities such as free play, open-ended art making, gardening, dancing, movement, and use of the playground equipment.

12:00 – 12:45 pm: Lunch – Transition to lunch, clean up, wash hands & eat lunch with friends

12:45 pm – 1:00 pm:   Transition to afternoon rest time

1:00 pm – 2:15 pm: Rest time – Children quietly and calmy rest and/or nap

Once younger children are settled, older children are invited to the afternoon workshop or may choose to independently and quietly engage in classroom work, where they receive individual and small-group lessons.

2:15 PM – 2:30 PM: All children transition from rest, pack up their belongings, and come together for an end-of-day group lesson and/or read-aloud before preparing for dismissal.

2:45 – 3:00 pm Pick up – Children leave as parents arrive for end of day pick up!

Extra Care

3:00 – 4:45 pm – After Care

Extra Care is available to enrolled families at an affordable but additional cost. Monthly or drop-in options are available.

Lunch & Snacks

We provide healthy snacks and families participant in a snack calendar.

Parents or guardians are responsible for sending a nutritious lunch with their child/children each school day.
